So have you ever wondered what the Meter Maids are?
We did when we first went to Surfers Paradise and saw lots of pretty girls walking around in gold bikinis?
Since 1965 the girls dressed in gold bikinis with their sparkling tiaras have strolled the streets of Surfers Paradise topping up all expired parking meters, ensuring no one gets a parking ticket (although mum still got one 😳)
Apparently, business leaders are calling for the end of Surfers Paradise Meter Maids as they believe the meter maids are violating the council's laws by selling branded merchandise, also they have installed electronic meters now, so the meter maids have no purpose.
